THE NEW CURRICULUM IS A TURNING POINT IN UGANDA

For many years, Uganda had an old curriculum format of learning in secondary schools. Unexpectedly the ministry of education and sports introduced a new curriculum in 2019 due to many reasons. Well, as time went by learners were able to understand how it runs. Teachers put effort to attain the procedure of this new secondary curriculum through attending nonstop seminars and workshops. To avoid learning impromptu, the ministry of education and sports made sure that all secondary schools get text books as a startup. Together with the government, the ministry as much as possible to leave no stone unturned in this curriculum.

The new curriculum is like a surplus budget where the income is more than the expenditure so in this format of studying the positive effects weigh more than the negative effects. It puts a great impact on one’s life. We as learners, we are really gaining a lot in the new curriculum because it improves on our IQ (Intelligence Quotient) since it involves critical thinking so as to interpret and analyze the scenario questions. We are thankful to our government for supplying textbooks, because they cater for schools that have inadequate computers for research.

Luckily enough, we as students benefit since it trains us to be job creators rather than job seekers. Therefore, the problem of unemployment is being solved especially in the youths. The interesting fact is that it teaches one to be a problem solver. One is able to find solutions to challenges facing the community. Projects being part of the new curriculum, students are using the last of their energy to come up with unique eco- friendly projects.

All this curriculum is more of benefit, it also has a few difficulties where by the published textbooks have little contents so research is hard and also inadequate internet in computer laboratories. Senior three class set the ball rolling and now the nation is eager to welcome students of new curriculum in the business and career world to lay out their ideology.

At the end of it all, we now understand this curriculum properly and it will be a turning point in our nation. Therefore, Uganda is going from strength to strength.
